Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 1, 2026 · InQ Tax Inc. · Kansas City, MO
InQ Tax Inc. ("we," "our," or "us") operates InQ Ledger desktop software and the inqledger.com website. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you purchase a license or start a trial, we collect your name, email address, and payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number).
License and device data. InQ Ledger verifies your license on launch. During verification it sends a device fingerprint (a hash of your computer name, username, and OS — not personally identifiable) and your license key to our servers. We use this to enforce license terms and show you which devices are active in your account.
Usage data. We do not collect telemetry, usage statistics, or behavioral data from inside the application. Your accounting data never leaves your machine.
Feedback. If you submit feedback or a bug report through the app, we receive the message content and your email address if provided.
2. Your Accounting Data
Your company files are stored locally on your computer as SQLite database files. We have no access to your accounting data, client data, financial records, or any data stored in your company files. It never touches our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver your license key and manage your subscription
- To send transactional emails (license delivery, renewal reminders, password recovery)
- To verify license validity on application launch
- To respond to support requests and feedback
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
Stripe processes payments. Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Resend delivers transactional emails on our behalf.
Upstash stores license and customer records in an encrypted database.
Calendly handles demo scheduling on the inqledger.com website.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and business purposes. You may request deletion of your account by emailing info@inqtax.com.
6. Security
License keys are cryptographically signed using HMAC-SHA256. Account data is stored in encrypted databases. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and subject to PCI-DSS compliance. We never store credit card numbers.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at info@inqtax.com. If you are in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of InQ Ledger after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
